Ed is a cross-media creative director, branding specialist and design evangelist. With over 25 years in the design communications industry, Ed has served in leadership
roles for numerous internationally recognized agencies.
Ed founded Incognito Design in 1994 and guides the strategic direction and creative vision of the company.

Ed has developed enterprise programs, tools, and training for global companies – fostering effective communication, advanced collaboration, and stronger commitment. He has created compliance/ethics-based training programs and communications for GlaxoSmithKline, Altria, and American Express. Ed has also developed brands, campaigns and business communications for AT&T, Interactive Data/United Kingdom, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Royal Alliance, SunAmerica, AIG, FLOR, Land of Nod, The Museum of Science and Industry, Shedd Aquarium, and Charlie Trotter’s Foods, as well as designed ground-breaking text books for Houghton-Mifflin and McDougal-Littel.

Ed’s work has been recognized by industry award shows from the American Institute of Design and Webby’s, as well as trade publications including I.D., Print, How and Communication Arts.

Ed completed a B.F.A. in Visual Communications with honors from Northern Illinois University.

Explorations An avid explorer Ed has traveled to Turkey, Russia, Kenya, Uganda, Greece, Sweden, Finland, Argentina, Patagonia, and the Galapagos Islands. Next up – Antarctica and Vietnam…with his kids of course!

Non-digital hobbies A diving instructor and enthusiast, Ed teaches all levels of SCUBA from beginner to advanced technical. With over 5000 logged dives Ed has dove all the world oceans. His favorite moment – a mother humpback and her calf swimming 30 feet directly over his head. Ed is also a Kukkiwon and WTF certified black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Ed has taught group classes at his local dojang, as well as large classes of 300+ students at Northern Illinois University. He is even more proud of his 7 year-old son who will be taking his own black belt test in 2012.

Most proud of The moments spent with his wife and two boys. The first keeps him planted in reality, while the second and third keep him grounded on the floor.
