A global biopharmaceutical company, Albireo is focused on the development of novel bile acid modulators to treat rare pediatric and adult liver diseases. As a leader in bile acid biology, Albireo leverages their expertise in bile acid modulation to provide hope for families living with progressive familial intrahepatic cholestatis (PFIC).

PFIC is a rare, and devastating liver disease that can lead to severe itching (pruritus), slowed growth and liver failure. For many, the itching can be so severe that children and infants scratch through their skin causing loss of sleep, poor attention and lower school performance.
Due to poor search rankings and a need to identify patients for clinical trials, ID modified Albireo’s PFIC Voices website to enhance SEO, increase opt-ins and, using a give-to-get strategy, deliver tools and resources for families living with PFIC.

Once PFICVoices.com launched, ID was next asked to produce a website to help Albireo recruit patients for their Phase 3 clinical trial for Bylvay® a novel bile acid modulator to treat pediatric and adult liver disease patients diagnosed with binary atresia. With a limited budget and tight turn-around time, ID wrote copy, designed and activated a clinical trial information page for caregivers.

Instagram Competitive Landscape Review
In general, many rare disease patients can be found participating in Facebook communities. Inorder to locate another communities of PFIC caregivers and patients, we conducted desk research in order to identify unmet social media needs, and discovered that PFIC caregivers were very active on Instagram. This led to a new platform as we designed a strategic approach to engage and convert PFIC patients through design, motion, color, infographics and family testimonials.
Meeting-in-a-Box
The COVID 19 pandemic made it next to impossible for pharmaceutical sales representatives to connect with and engage healthcare professionals (HCPs) in the face-to-face manner they had become accustomed to. Meeting with HCPs online presented the sales force with unique challenges, as many were not set-up nor trained in facilitating online pitches.
In order to help Albireo’s sale force succeed, where many others were failing, ID created the Meeting in a Box program. We delivered a home video studio, complete with set-up instructions, tools and resources for sales reps to broadcast professional virtual meetings and video conferencingfrom the comfort of their own home – in as little as 10 minutes.
